Louisa's Sixth Letter

Sept 10, 1919

My Dear Joe,

I forgot in the letter I wrote you to tell you that Tootsie is not able to make jelly with those grapes. It will only spoil it’s better you take the grapes to market and sell them and share the money.

Tell Papa the doctor said if I can take the eggs they are very good for me but I only can take one in the morning and one in the afternoon because if I take 2 in the morning I can not eat no dinner.

Are the children going to school.

I am much better but my fever is very high. I wonder if it will ever come down.

Best love and kisses to Grandma, Papa and all the children and yourself.

I can not get over Frankie’s picture. I always look at it.

Your loving Mother.

Larry Notes:

One week after Louisa wrote this letter, her younger sister Minnie died in Brooklyn from the same disease - Tuberculosis. The next letter, number 7, was written two months later. I don't know why there is such a gap. There may have been more letters, but I doubt it. Each of the remaining letters are at least two months apart.
