* This is the couple's 5th child. An unknown female was born April 29, 1886 and died before the second child, William, was born September 25, 1887. The third child, Albert Jr., was born April 28, 1888. Little Albert only lived for one day, dying on April 29, two days before 10-month-old William died. Barely 10 months later, Edwin, the fourth child, was born on May 20, 1889. Although I have not been able to locate his death record, he has already died by the time Ada is born (Yes, that's right, another 10-month span). 22-year-old Bertha has buried four babies in four years. At least Ada survives into adulthood before dying at the age of 22. She was Albert and Bertha's last child.
