This is where Marie Nowasky Bolton was living in the 1950's. It's in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn. On September 4, 1955, her mother, Barbara Kellner Nowasky, suffered an attack of some undefined illness.
She had been living alone at 683 Coney Island Avenue since the deaths of her sons, Charles in 1954, and Fred 8 months earlier in January 1955.
She went to live with Marie here in Canarsie and died there several months later on January 24, 1956. She was 79 years old.
Between 1939 and 1941, New York City photographed every building in the five boroughs for tax purposes. This photo of the house at 8119 Glenwood Road is from that collection.
