Starting with the fourth line from the top is Juliana Fretz, Otto's mother. She is 40 years of age. Her Calling is "Wife"; she is from Germany and her destination is New York. She has 3 pieces of luggage.
Below Juliana are her seven children, starting with two sons, Adolf (16) and Herman (11), followed by daughters Elise (9) and Anna (6),
then sons Richard (7), Earnest (3), and 6-month-old Otto.
From other record sources, I know that Juliana's maiden name was Juliana Elisabetha Haeberle and that the family was originally from Homburg, in the Bavarian section of Germany.
Otto, however, was born in the town of Kaiserslautern, which is about 35 kilometers (22 miles) east of Homburg. As we see here, Juliana and the children arrived in America 6 months after Otto's birth.
I have been unable to locate an immigration record for Otto's father, Christian Fretz. I can only assume that he arrived on an earlier or later date.
